When you have a home with many people, you’ll find that there is always someone in the bathroom. The crazy thing is that often for a room that gets more use than just about any other room in your home it is also generally the smallest room in your home. Before you remodel your bathroom, there are certain things you need to think about before you start.

The very first thing you should think about is incorporating a shower stall instead of a bathtub. It is usually not so common that folks take a bath in the bathtub. Obviously when you have younger children in the home this is probably not an option. If however most of the people in your home are 12 years old or older this is a great option. With the addition of a shower stall as opposed to a bathtub, you will increase the amount of room to your bathroom. Of course, if you have a small bathroom to begin with, you will enjoy the added space.

Additionally when it comes to replacing your sink in your bathroom pick one that is made out of lighter colors. Darker color sinks will really reveal water spots, hard water stains and even soap scum stick out more. You may find yourself cleaning your sink many times each day. So when picking a color for your sink, be sure that it is light in color.

If you want to change the color design of your bathroom and you prefer to get colored fixtures, be sure to get your fixtures before you remodel. You will find some effort associated with finding different colored fixtures and don’t forget there may be some waiting time after you ordered them. However, if you don’t need extravagant fixtures, just get the white or off white ones. You will find your common white fixtures in any do it yourself center. This also makes it easy if you want to replace it at a later date in the future.

If you have tile to your shower stall, you may have to wait two or three days until the tile is fixed tight to the ground. Consequently regardless of whether your bathroom is finished in a week, you will still have to wait to use the shower. Additionally, a standard stall is a lot simpler to install than one that requires tiles.

One thing you will have to plan for in the event you only have one bathroom, is that you will need to have a friend or neighbor nearby that will let you use their bathroom until the renovations have been completed.
